Dr. Ambedkar invalidates the prejudice that Buddhism is responsible for pitiable condition of women, which is evidenced by misrepresentation of various incidents and preachings of Buddha. Vishasha, Mallika, Aamrapaali were all disciples of Buddha. In Shravasti he preached five hundred females. Of course, he was conscious of concupiscence in man which is not easy to tethered and that’s why he separated female monasteries from male monastries. His preachings reveals his concern for girl-child and females. To him, females were the supreme creature as all enlightened beings were born from female creatures. Infact , it was Manu, who laid down canonical rules to enslave women , whether as a girl, married or old . He even rejected the right to divorce for females. Thus, not Buddha or Buddhism but Manu is architect of female’s slavery in India. Buddha , by giving acquiescence to women for becoming bhishku not only liberated their path , but also ended gender inequality .
