This booklet is a collection of significant statements of Ambedkar on such social issues in India as untouchability, concept of freedom, merits and demerits of religion. Untouchability is not a physical phenomenon but a state of mind marked by presence of evil desires and freedom implies emancipation of both the fetters, class and varna and elimination of dependence of others. Self-elevation or social uplift is not possible through institution but through self-effort. Similarly , abolition of untouchability does not invite institutional meditation of religious nature. Certainly , religion is the most valuable support of human-beings, an exclusive medium for ethical formations in individuals. This sphere should be expanded to encapsulate the entire humanity. However, religion should never be allowed to entertain disseminate superstition and hypocrisies that makes man an instrument for endless manipulation. Only a society based on all-inclusive morality can be capacious to accomplish social revolution.
